A $35/hour cleaner who takes three hours is more expensive than a $50/hour cleaner who finishes in two and does better work. I'd rather give you a flat quote for the job so there are no surprises when the visit is done.

A proper move-in cleaning service goes room by room through the entire unit before your belongings arrive. That means inside and outside of all cabinets and drawers, appliances including oven and refrigerator interior, all bathroom surfaces and fixtures, baseboards, windowsills, and floors. The goal is that the space feels genuinely clean, not just wiped down. If there's a specific concern about the unit, tell me before I start.
What do you mean by cleaning? +
I mean the space is actually clean, not just tidy. Organizing doesn't count as cleaning. Vacuuming the center of the room and skipping the edges doesn't count either. Real cleaning means surfaces are scrubbed, fixtures are wiped down, floors are done properly, and the places that collect grime over time, like the top of the fridge or behind the toilet, are not skipped because they're inconvenient.
What is the 20 minute rule of cleaning? +
The 20-minute rule is a habit strategy where you commit to cleaning for just 20 minutes a day to prevent buildup. It works reasonably well for maintaining a home that's already clean. It doesn't work for catching up on a home that's gotten behind, and it doesn't replace a proper deep clean or a move-in clean where the home needs real attention. If you're in maintenance mode, the 20-minute rule can extend time between professional visits.
How often should a home be professionally cleaned? +
Most households with regular use do well on a biweekly schedule. Homes with pets, kids, or higher foot traffic often benefit from weekly visits. Monthly is fine for people who stay on top of day-to-day maintenance themselves and just want professional-level attention on a regular basis. The right frequency depends on your home, your household, and honestly, your standards. I can tell you what I'd recommend after seeing the space.
Do I need to be home during the cleaning? +
You don't have to be, and most of my regular clients aren't. The first visit is a good time to walk through the home together so I know what matters most to you. After that, many clients simply leave a key or provide access and come home to a clean house. That said, I'm just as comfortable working around your schedule if you prefer to be there.
